My name is Catherine Davie and I would like to introduce you to my Web site about my travels to Cape Verde. I spent 7 years globe trotting as an air stewardess in the 90's. Nowadays I am doing something more 'down to earth' but I still have a passion for travel and I've always wanted to explore an archipelago off the beaten track. After a week in Cape Verde in 1994, in August 2006 I went back to explore further.

This website has been created to increase awareness of Cape Verde which has a young tourism industry and is under-represented in the mainstream press. It also serves to highlight my photography and writing skills in the area of travel where I am seeking to enhance my opportunities.

A long standing dream of mine was to climb a volcano.When the opportunity arose I decided to combine this with a charity event. My chosen charity was the Cape Verdean Society based in Wales. Donations go towards a malnutrition centre in Mindelo. In this centre (which was closed during my visit) children are treated from the age of new born to 5 years of age. Mums are educated on how best to feed their child with what they have. Children are visibly undernourished upon entering the centre. A few weeks later they have got over the worst. The charity also supports local education needs and ex patriates living in the UK.
