Bulgarian Wedding
Want to let your hair down and have a real knees up? Come along to the Bulgarian Wedding situated near Sunny Beach. If you want to get ideas of how the locals celebrate then this evening is one not to miss.
The traditional welcome involves bread dipped in spices, whilst the band plays along. Enjoy a traditional Bulgarian meal as you watch the festivities begin. Join in with the colourful locals as they teach you their dancing footwork! Watch as the groom and bride are prepared with their colourful costumes to mark the ceremony. And if you are brave enough there is a hot coal walker who may just carry you over the hot coals. This is an evening where you can have your dance and eat it!
Situated on a hill above Sunny Beach, this really sets the scene for a cabaret evening. This special evening certainly has a touch of Rio there as well as a few other surprises. Look in amazement at the spectacular dancing, fire eater and acrobats. Watch ‘cat woman’ as she bends herself into all sorts of weird and wonderful shapes. Another lady too has flexible ways of retrieving a rose! And if you are wondering what to do with all those plates the Charlie Chaplin look-alike can show you his plate spinning antics. A night to remember? Definitely!
Situated near the beautiful beach resort of Albena, Balchik has a charm of its own. I visited the summer residence of Queen Marie of Romania (who no longer lives). The winding road entrance is lined with souvenir kiosks so it is a relief to reach the grounds.
In the main villa which is the palace, the ground floor has an art gallery and a souvenir shop. Upstairs there is a hammam looking bathroom, a two room museum, bedroom and salon. The palace faces the sea, and behind it runs steep terraces, with the main feature being the minaret. There are some stone villas in the grounds too.
This woodland area leads towards the Botanical Gardens which have a variety of cacti, shrubs and trees. Descending towards the sea, there are six terraces behind the villa, one terrace for each of the children Marie had. A watermill, rose garden, a roman bath and a small chapel are also in the grounds.
